Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to facility menus and policy
  • Cut/prepare food to safe consistency for residents (per dietary needs)
  • Serve meals alongside kitchen aide; leave clear written instructions for other shifts
  • Maintain resident dietary records (e.g., intake charting)
  • Follow food safety, labeling, and sanitation practices
  • Keep kitchen, appliances, and storage areas clean and organized
  • Manage food inventory/leftovers efficiently to minimize waste and store trips
  • Communicate professionally with residents, families, and staff

Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • If needed, a certification from a physician, nurse practitioner, or other health care professional to verify no communicable diseases or open skin lesions
  • Background check required upon offer of employment
  • Previous experience working as a cook is preferred
  • Must be able to lift on a regular basis, up to 25 lbs.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and multitasking skills
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn assisted living food service standards
